Cleaning the shower enclosure? Find out how to do it quickly and efficiently

After using the shower for some time, unsightly stains and deposits may appear on the walls of the shower enclosure. Then even the most designer model of a shower enclosure can lose its charm. Restoring the original shine to the walls is made difficult by the fact that cleaning the shower enclosure from sediment with chemicals may additionally damage the glass surface and leave scratches on it. So how do you remove stubborn and returning sediment to enjoy a smooth, clean and shiny surface of the shower enclosure? We advise you!

First of all, prevention - cleaning the shower encolsure from sediment

It is always best to prevent the build-up of dirt on the walls of the shower rather than deal with it later. Regular rinsing of the shower enclosure after each bath and the use of a water squeegee with a rubber coating that is safe for the windows prevents soap residues (and other dirt) from settling on the surface of the walls, thus dismissing the prospect of sediment formation. However, in busy everyday life, it is difficult to be so systematic - few people manage, for example, before going to work, when every minute counts, to set aside time to wash the shower enclosure after the morning shower.

The simplest solution to clean the shower enclosure from sediment seems to be the use of chemicals that should quickly and effectively remove dirt. However, many detergents contain microgranules that can damage the surface of the shower glass, causing them to permanently tarnish and scratch visible to the naked eye. Therefore, cleaners should be selected very carefully - just like sponges, brushes, cloths and cleaners - too hard materials can also damage the shower enclosure surface. So let's put, among others for soft and universal microfiber and delicate, preferably ecological cleaning agents. You probably already have some of them at home ... More precisely, in the kitchen.

Homemade ways to clean the glass of the shower enclosure. So washing the bathroom ... from the kitchen

jak czyścić kabinę prysznicową

Our grandmothers and moms had (have) plenty of proven ways to deal with everyday problems - from relieving toothache to removing stains from shirts. A large part of grandma's advice is still used today, outperforming many modern solutions. So before we spend money on new super measures promoted in the media, it is worth trusting the experience of previous generations and trying out proven, home-made ways to clean the glass of the shower enclosure.

We know how important it is to keep the bathroom immaculate and what problems can be caused by trying to get rid of the residue from the shower walls. That is why we present our practical mini-guide, i.e. the 3 best home remedies for cleaning the glass of a shower enclosure from sediment:

  • 1. Spirit vinegar - safe and cheap cleaning agent

It is difficult to find a more multifunctional substance that almost everyone will find in their own kitchen. In the bathroom, vinegar can be the basic agent for cleaning the shower cubicle from sediment, soap residues and even limescale. It is enough to pour warm water and vinegar into the sprinkler in equal proportions and spray the glass of the shower enclsoure with the solution prepared in this way, and, if necessary, also the faucet or the joints. After several minutes, wipe the sprayed surface and rinse it with hot water.

If the stains are extremely stubborn, wipe them generously with undiluted vinegar and rinse after at least several dozen minutes.

  • 2. Citric acid - mild fragrance, strong cleaning action

For people who are disturbed by the strong smell of vinegar, we recommend using a solution of warm water and citric acid in the following proportions:

1 full tablespoon of acid for every 100 ml of water

After combining the ingredients, apply the solution to the surfaces to be cleaned (e.g. by pouring it into a spray bottle beforehand), leave it for at least 10 minutes, and then rinse with warm water.

However, cleaning the shower enclosure from sediment with citric acid is not a good solution for owners of natural stone floors. This substance may cause discoloration and micro-damage on the surface of marble, granite or travertine. So if you have even a stone element in your shower - better give up using citric acid.

  • 3. A reliable duo against mold and fungi - hydrogen peroxide with baking soda

There are many natural allies in keeping the bathroom clean. In the fight against various types of deposits in the shower enclosure, mold and fungi, baking soda and hydrogen peroxide (3% concentration) come to the rescue.

If there is mold in your shower enclosure (most often visible on and next to the joints), cover it with baking soda and leave it for at least 10 minutes. If you also notice dark dots on the surface, indicating fungal growth, after the indicated time, pour hydrogen peroxide on the surface (still covered with soda). Thoroughly clean the dirt with the resulting mass. The last stage of cleaning, as well as a regular practice, should be repeatedly flooding the space with hydrogen peroxide and allowing it to dry completely.

Cleaning the shower enclosure from sediment - quickly, ecologically and, above all, effectively

Of course, there are many ways to keep the bathroom clean. However, before we reach for strong chemicals, which often do not save the environment, home budget, or even cleaned surfaces, it is worth trying natural solutions.

Homemade methods of cleaning the glass of the shower enclosure are easy, cheap and, most importantly, effective. Their effectiveness may surprise even the greatest skeptics.
